Description
CdWO4 | Scintillation Crystal is a scintillator with high density, virtually no afterglow, and relatively high light yield, perfect for detecting gamma rays and high-energy X-rays.
Cadmium tungstate (CdWO4) is a scintillation crystal most promising for spectrometry and radiometry of radionuclides under extremely low activities because of its low afterglow and sufficiently high light yield. The crystal is transparent and emits light when hit by gamma and X-rays, making it useful as a detector of ionizing radiation. It has relatively high light yield; its light ouput is about 40% of NaI(Tl), but the time of scintillation is quite long (12–15 µs). CdWO4 is often used in computed tomography (CT).
